Who is the camp counselor for your little one???

 This is a sequel post to the “Who is teaching your little one???” from awhile back, and I now have some inside information and more reasoned commentary. As some of you may know, we recently started a camp business called Great Kids Camps and we started our first camp today at Lansdowne Resort near Leesburg (great first day, but that is not the point).

Fortunately, in the last few days prior to opening, we received our license to operate a “day care center” from the State of Virginia Dept of Social Services. I can now report back that it is a rigorous process and I feel a bit more secure about the care for own my little girl at her preschool, knowing the requirements to get people qualified to be a counselor, let alone a Day Care Owner. Is it necessary for everyone to have a TB test - probably not, considering none of my staff have ever been to a 3rd world country. And is it that important to make sure that we don’t share sun tan lotion between kids - again probably not. However, Social Services has thought of everything and has a policy and procedure in place, and I’m happy to report that we passed the challenge!
