Do people plan ski trips when the weather is hot?

Now that I’m “in the business,” summer camp registrations have really surprised me. What causes people to enroll their kids in summer camps on the coldest days of the year? I’m not complaining - I love these early registrations (and we’re offering an incentive to those of you motivated enough to sign up in January), but is it because you’re longing for the warm weather? Or are we constantly being pushed to make decisions farther out in the future (I think I saw a department store put up Christmas decorations for next year and we’re thinking of leaving our Christmas tree up all year to make sure that we’re ready!) Are you already planning your costumes for Halloween?

Please don’t see this posting as cynicism - I’m all about being prepared. And I’d love to be booked up in our camps by the spring. However, I see this as an opportunity to plan great events that make you think about alternative seasons - Luau Parties in the winter, Halloween Parties in March, heck we’ll even bust out the Santa outfit in 90+ degree weather. Why not? It’s no fun to wait all year to celebrate that time of year you love best!
